Jean-Charles Gautier est l’un des principaux collectionneurs d’objets sur David Bowie. « Le virus du collectionneur vient d’un voyage en Angleterre où mes parents m’ont envoyé quand j’avais 7-8 ans, à la fin des années 1960, pour apprendre la langue. J’étais dans une famille de fermiers, dans le Devon, et j’écoutais le hit-parade à la radio tous les matins. J’ai entendu un morceau qui sortait du lot mais, comme je parlais très mal l’anglais, je n’arrivais pas à l’identifier. J’ai eu la chance de tomber sur un marchand de disques compréhensif, dans le village le plus proche, qui m’a fait écouter les cinquante disques classés. Jean-Charles Gautier is one of the leading collectors of David Bowie memorabilia. « I caught the collecting bug during a trip to England where my parents sent me when I was 7 or 8 years old, in the late 1960s, to learn the language. I was staying with a farming family in Devon, and I listened to the charts on the radio every morning. I heard a song that stood out from the rest, but since my English was very poor, I couldn’t identify it. I was lucky enough to come across an understanding record dealer in the nearest village, who played me the top fifty records.
